LIMESTONE COUNTY-On Wednesday, April 22 the Limestone County sheriff’s Office issued a statement regarding Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit: Safe Streets Project with the arrest of one man on Drug charges:

“Narcotics Investigator Jamie King was parked at a church on Elk River Mills Road this evening monitoring the flow of traffic.

A white four door Mitsubishi pulled into the parking lot where Investigator King was parked and turned around. Investigator King observed that the vehicle matched the description of a possible stolen vehicle that had been reported earlier in the day. Investigator King pulled onto Elk River Mills Road behind the car and ran the tag through dispatch. Investigator King discovered that the car was displaying a switched tag.

Investigator King conducted a traffic stop on the car at the Village Mart on Elk River Mills Road and Highway 99. When Investigator King approached the driver side of the vehicle, he observed that the driver (who was later identified as Donald Key) was in the process of eating an unknown amount of methamphetamine and was choking on the bag containing the illicit drug. Investigator King assisted the driver by removing the bag (which was also collected as evidence) and called for an ambulance. Key received medical treatment and was determined to not be in any apparent distress and didn’t need further treatment at that time. He was released back into Inv. King’s custody.

Investigator King, pursuant to arrest, conducted a preliminary search of the vehicle, at which time he located an additional 10 grams of methamphetamine, a meth pipe, and digital scales inside the vehicle.

Key was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence. Donald Key was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for attempting to elude and a probation violation for manufacturing a controlled substance.”
