Willie “Teen” Boddie was born on April 18, 1935 and departed this life on February 12, 2020. She was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama to the late Ada Cunningham and Lawson David.
She attended Sterling High School, in Sheffield, Alabama where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Later in life, Teen completed a Culinary Arts program at the University of North Alabama (UNA). She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and was an active member of St. Luke, Methodist Church, Sheffield, Alabama. Accompanying her husband, she later joined and became an active worshiper at First Missionary Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, Alabama. During her service at First Missionary Baptist Church, she was a member of the choir and assisted her husband in preparing the “Lords Supper” for over 30 years. Continuing to fulfill her Christian calling and servitude, she also belonged to the Sunday Evening Circle Ministry. Teen was a faithful servant of the Lord until her passing.
Ed Henry and Teen were united in marriage on September 23, 1955. From their union, they had seven children; Priscilla, Dennis, Anthony, Myrtle, Marvin, John and Demetrius.
She was an employee of the Sheffield City Schools system and later went on to work for Shoals Hospital, from where she retired after 25 years of job tenure. After retirement, Teen dedicated her time in assisting to raise her grandchildren and sitting on her porch to enjoy her beautiful flower gardens.
Teen leaves to cherish her everlasting memories: husband of 64 years, Ed Henry (E.H.) Boddie; two daughters, Priscilla (d. Ronald) Sledge (Florence, AL.), Myrtle Jarmon (Tacoma, WA.) and four sons; Anthony (Patricia) Boddie (Hillsborough N.C.), Dennis Boddie (d. Karen Lynn Coffey) (Florence, AL.), Marvin Boddie (Florence, AL.) and Demetrius Boddie (Florence, Al.); daughter-in-law, Monica Boddie (d. John Boddie) (Muscle Shoals, AL.); two sisters-in-law, Martha Byrd (Tuscumbia, AL.) and Margret Fuqua (Tuscumbia, AL). Twenty-two loving grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her four brothers; James Poole, Ellis Poole, Leister Poole, and Abraham Webster; one sister, Geneva Williams; one son, John Boddie; one son-in-law, Ronald Sledge and one daughter-in-law, Karen Lynn Coffey.
