MUSCLE SHOALS-Northwest-Shoals Community College’s (NW-SCC) FAME Program will host three Discover Your Claim to FAME, open house networking events. The first event, on Thursday, February 6, 2020, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., will offer high school seniors and counselors from schools in Colbert, Franklin, and Winston counties an opportunity to hear from NW-SCC and FAME Shoals Chapter businesses. Those in attendance will be able to meet with them and learn more about the FAME apprenticeship program, industrial maintenance, and advanced manufacturing.

The event will feature NW-SCC FAME program representatives and company representatives from Freightcar America, Pilgrim’s Pride, Mid-South Central Extrusion Die Company, Constellium, Essity, and North American Lighting. High schools attending the Thursday, February 6th, event will be from Colbert, Franklin, and Winston counties.

The Alabama FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) program at NW-SCC is a pathway to a challenging and well-paying career as a multi-skilled technician. Students will attend classes two full days per week (16-20 hours per week) while working three full days a week (24+ contact hours) with a sponsoring company. FAME Students earn a competitive wage while attending college and gain priceless work experience. Over two years, students can earn as much as $33,500, which with planning can cover all of a student’s education expenses.
