Hazel Childress Hazel Johnson Childress was born on April 19, 1926, to the late Ernest and Ethel Johnson in Franklin County, TN. In 1946 she married Charlie Childress, Sr. and later became the mother of three children. She passionately devoted many hours to visiting the sick and shut in throughout the Franklin County area while maintaining her work and family responsibilities. Her acts of kindness and care demonstrated what it means to be of service to others. Her selfless service will always be remembered. Truly she will be missed. During her early years, she was a member of Macedonia PB Church in Asia and later became a member of Mt. Olive PB Church in Winchester. She loved to laugh, talk on the phone and to stay on the go! She transitioned from her earthly life almost reaching 94 years of age and still residing at her home, on Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Charlie Childress Sr., Sisters: Pearl Wider, Normeda Dartis, Betty Brown and Brothers: Robert Johnson, Cornelius Johnson and Charles Johnson. To continue her legacy and cherish her memories are her children Charlie Childress Jr. of Dacula, GA., Priscilla Beasley (Thomas) and Michael Childress of Winchester, TN; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and Sister Annie Mae Trigg of Winchester, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. We celebrate the longevity of her life. To God be the glory. Visitation with the family will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. on Saturday January 18th at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
