Jean Ilene Ballenger Black, age 75, of Sumiton, AL passed away August 2, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, Marlen and Margree Morgan Ballenger and her brother-in-law, Bill Siewert. Ilene is survived by her husband of 42 years, Sam Black; sisters, Elaine Siewert and Joyce (Tom) Washington; 1 niece and 5 nephews. Ilene was an educator for 34 years. She was a teacher at T.S. Boyd Elementary School then served as principal of Sumiton Elementary/Middle School for 17 years. Ilene was a member of Sumiton Church of God. She had a great love for flowers which was evident in her beautiful landscape designs. Funeral Services will be held at Sumiton Church of God Sunday, August 4, 2019. Visitation from 2:30 – 4:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm. Interment will be in New Horizon Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 am.
