Kenneth Wayne Meacham, 79, unexpectedly passed away on July 19th, 2019, at home. He was born November 1st, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, and is the son of James Meacham and Olive (Overby) Meacham. Ken was a loving father, husband and friend to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Strange) Meacham; brother, Jimmy Meacham and wife, Nila; his sons, Jeff Meacham and wife, Cindy, and Chris Meacham and wife, Alston.
Ken’s education included DeVry University, Chicago, University of Alabama in Huntsville and Athens State University. Ken served with the U.S. Army from 1962 through 1964. His service in the Army brought him to Huntsville, Alabama, where he met the love of his life, Shirley (Strange) Meacham. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage together.
Following Ken’s service in the Army, he retired from Redstone Arsenal after 25 years of civilian service.
Foremost, Ken was a devout Christian. Due to his love for farming, he formed a non-profit, Farmers for Christ, to help feed those in need. He loved being with his family and friends, Alabama football, fishing, and spending time outdoors on his John Deere tractor.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel with Dr. Kevin Moore officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
