Esther Louise Depue, 99, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. Esther Lou was born in St Joseph, MI as the first child to ‘Harry’ Ward Young and Esther Belle (Sowersby) Young. She attended Bridgeman High School and graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL in 1942. Many of her classmates became lifelong friends who lived all over the country and world.
She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She adored her grandchildren and kept up with every detail of their lives, even after celebrating her 99th birthday a month ago.
Esther Lou loved people and was loaded with personality. She was always smiling and up for a good laugh. She was a very loyal friend, interested in others more than herself. Towards the end of her life she told her friends to come and live next door in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Peggy Depue, and her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Bob Wicks of Mission, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Depue; her children, Jeanne Kuczerpa (Bill) of Huntsville and Jon DePue (Kathy) of Wheaton, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan DePue, Nicole DePue, Cole Kuczerpa and Claire Kuczerpa; and brother, Bud Young (Marion) of Glen Ellyn, IL.
A celebration of her life is planned for a future time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to her favorite charities, The Billy Graham Association and Campus Crusade for Christ.
