L.H. “Chick” Ritter, 97, of Lexington, passed from this life Friday, May 31, 2019 at his home. He was the patriarch of the family as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved old cars, especially his ‘59 Corvette, ‘62 Thunderbird and his Ford Truck.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4th from 6 – 8 p.m. at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the church with Gary Dan Williams and Brother Kevin Balch officiating. Burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Jason Ingram, Brent Fulks, LTC. Robert Carlson (USA-Ret), Brett Sams, Ray McCain and Blayne McCafferty. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Roberson, Ronnie Barnett, Ronnie Sharp, Ryan Howard, Terry Herston and Bobby D. Howard.
Mr. Ritter was born December 28, 1921, to the late John & Bonnie Ritter. He attended Lexington High School and was a lifelong member and served as an elder at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II as a combat infantryman in the D-Day invasion of Normandy in northern France in the 119th Infantry, 30th Division “Old Hickory”. He was a proud recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars and many more.
“Chick” was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Oreine Howard Ritter; brothers, Hubert, Junior and Melbert Ritter. He is survived by his children, Barbara Ingram (Bobby) and Rickey Ritter (Pam); grandchildren, Roxy Ritter Day (Jonathan), Jason Elliott Ingram (Anna Hayes), Camille Ritter Williams (Gary Dan) and Caroline Ritter Fulks (Brent); great grandchildren, Anna Day, Madeline, Matilda and Meredith Ruby Williams, Guston Fulks, Lake and Link Ingram, Blaire and MaryEllis Bruce; numerous nieces and nephews.
