Mary Jo Duncan Taylor, age 81, of Guin, AL passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mary Jo was born March 22, 1938 in Lamar County, Alabama, the daughter of Halen and Myrtle Franks Duncan. She grew up in Lamar County attending Webb School and Sulligent High School. After graduating from school she married Jimmy Lawrence Taylor, the love of her life, and together they shared 62 happy years. They raised two sons, Jimmy Craig Taylor and Neil Lawrence Taylor.
Mary Jo was one of the oldest living members of Union Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong and faithful member, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for many years. She had a true servant’s heart and was more than happy to give of herself, whether it was to her family or her church.
She was preceded in death by parents Halen and Myrtle Duncan; twin sister, Martha Sue Duncan; sisters Joyce Ann Duncan, Eunice Hazel Duncan, Shirley Duncan Minor and Inez Duncan Cantrell. Brothers; Quinton Duncan and Richard Kenneth Duncan.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband; Jimmy Taylor, sons Craig (Shelly) Taylor, Neil (Janis) Taylor, Grandson; Riley Taylor, Granddaughter; Dr. Shelby (Steven) Brown all of Cookeville, Tennessee. Sister; Elaine Duncan McReynolds, Birmingham, Alabama, Sister In Law, JoAnn Taylor Cantrell, Brother In Law, Jerry Minor, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Also one very special “four legged” companion, her precious “Sadie.”
Services held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm from the Union Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the Webb Cemetery. Bro. B. J. Mills officiating.
