William Dennis Whitehead, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the age of 67. He will lie-in-state from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the church with Dr. Teman Knight and Dr. William Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Tree Cemetery in Hackleburg.
Dennis was a pharmacist of 40 years and worked at Avalon Drugs in Muscle Shoals. He was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Even during sickness, Dennis kept his sense of humor until the end.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lydia Whitehead; daughters, Stephanie O’Conner (David) and Ashley Whitehead; brother, Tommy Whitehead; and two grandchildren, Will O’Conner and Victoria O’Conner.
Pallbearers will be Tony Burns, Barry Wylie, Robert Evans, David Branscombe, Jack Pennington and Phil Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. McLendon and the staff of Helen Keller Hospital.
