Teddy G Martin Teddy G. Martin passed on January 1, 2019. Services will be held at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1pm on Thursday, January 3 and funeral services will be at 2pm.

Teddy was born on June 3, 1932 in Collinwood, Tennessee, and resided in the Shoals area.

He was a graduate of Sheffield High School where he was an All-State football player, which earned him a scholarship offer from The University of Tennessee. The US Army called him to duty during the Korean War and upon discharge he and Sylvia were married.

Teddy began a 30-year tenure with Reynolds Metals. His love for cooking led him to open Coleman’s barbecue in Muscle Shoals. Along with his wife they served their community while instilling a passion for the restaurant business in their sons.
After retiring from Reynolds Metals, he and Sylvia moved to Huntsville Alabama where he volunteered his time to Mended Hearts which is an organization that inspires hope and helps improves the life of heart patients.

Teddy and Sylvia have been long term members of Whitesburg Baptist Church.

Teddy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia June Martin; sons David Martin (Rhonda) and Daniel Martin (Shannon); grandsons John, Mark, Ryan, and Dustin; sisters Fredda Wolfe and Peggy Suggs.

The family would like to acknowledge their heartfelt thanks for the staff at Hospice Family Care for the loving attention they provided.

In lieu of flowers, the Martin family respectfully request that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital which is dedicated to treating and defeating childhood cancer.

All that knew Teddy remember him for his kindness and concern for others. His enduring love for his wife and his support for his family is a testament to the life he lived.
