Elizabeth Lowe (Thomas) Hallums, age 78 of Shop Springs, passed away on November 26, 2018 after a lengthy battle with dementia. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN, on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Funeral Service is 1 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Pallbearers will be Rodney Thomas, Tyson Hallums, John Johnson, Glenn Hallums, Alex Hallums, and Seth Hallums.
Born and raised in the Gladeville community, the daughter of Winfield and Willie Mae Thomas, she was a lifelong resident of Wilson County. Mrs. Hallums was a loving Mother of three boys and the wife of a lifelong farmer. A woman who didn’t know the meaning of the word ‘idle’, she was always doing something to help others. She was very passionate about everything in her life whether designing custom curtains as a professional seamstress, raking hay in the field, playing music with her sons on the guitar, or cooking some of the best food on the planet for her family. Mrs. Hallums was a very happy person and loved to laugh. Her infectious laughter was only surpassed by the love she displayed in the life she lived. Her wonderful smile and caring ways will be truly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by sons Ricky Hallums, Jeff (Terry) Hallums, Greg Hallums, grandchildren Alex Hallums, Seth Hallums, Joshua Hallums, Kyla Hallums, Matthew Hallums, Tyson Hallums and Briana Hallums. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Clayton Hallums, father Winfield Thomas, mother Willie Mae (Thomas) Ballard, sister Mary Claudine (Thomas) Key and brothers Joe Lee Thomas, Benny Ray Thomas, and Eugene Thomas.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Mrs. Hallums’ caregivers: Angela McCarter, John Johnson, Kim Vickers, Betty Starnes, and Vicki Desimone. The Pavilion and Alive Hospice went above and beyond with their level of compassionate care. The Pavilion was especially diligent regarding family members.
