Corene Slaten Buchanan – Obituary

Funeral service for Corene Slaten Buchanan, 74, will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Vinemont, Alabama.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Buchanan died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her residence.  She was born  October 6, 1943, in Morgan County to Lindsey Slaten and Katherine Prince – Lanier.  She went to Morgan County High School. She married Johnny Buchanan in January 2001. Over the years, Corene worked at Prestolite, Cerro Wire, and Falkville Nursing Home. She grew up, learning at a young age about hard work as a sharecropper’s daughter, picking cotton and cooking for her family.

She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour at an early age and she lived as an example for Him throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Bud Slaten and a sister: Pat Bennaly.

Flowers may be sent to Peck Funeral Home on behalf of Mrs. Buchanan.

Survivors include :
her Husband, John Buchanan

Three Sons:
Chuck Smith (Jan),
Chris Smith (Kim) and
Tommy Buchanan (Debbie)

Two Daughters:
Terrie Steele (the late-Billy) and
Judy Curtis (Danny)

One Brother:
Lewis Slaten (Ann)

and many other family and friends

Pallbearers will be Jordan Smith, David Smith, Dustin Smith, Nathanael West, Caleb Peterson, John Charles Curtis, Cory Buchanan and Paul Grasty.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Smith and Aaron Smith.
