Stell’s Sports Grille: A Restaurant Review

First, this is a little new to me, doing a restaurant review.  However, I am going to give it my best.  I have been going to Stell’s Sports Grille for about a year.  I have really begun to patronize the establishment more lately.  Recently, Tracey and I went there twice in the last 2 weeks.  So, without further hesitation, here is my review.

Upon entering the establishment, you observe a spacious dining area.  There are several tables and they are spaced far enough apart that you are not bumping into people as you move about.  To the left, after you enter is the bar area, if you wish to partake in an Adult beverage.  There are several tables in the bar area if you would like to eat in that area.

Back to the dining area, there are several large TVs turned to various sports events.  The waitress was quick to greet us and take out drink order.  Looking over the menu, we decided we wanted an appetizer.  We ordered Fried Pickles and Cheese Curds.  If you are familiar with Cheese Curds, they are basically mini Cheese Sticks.  Both of the appetizers were cooked just right and we really enjoyed them.

Now the big part, what we are having for the entrée.  I am going to do a combination of what we have tried.  First off, the Hamburger Steak is awesome.  It had a marinade or sauce that it was cooked in that added to the flavor.  I really liked it.  It had just enough flavor without being overbearing.

Next for review was the Teriyaki Chicken.  This is a grilled chicken breast cooked in Teriyaki Sauce.  A piece of Pineapple on top with rice rounded out this dish.  I am kind of neutral on Grilled Chicken.  I’ll eat it, but I prefer fried.  However, this was very tasty.  I think the Teriyaki Sauce gave the extra flavor to the Grilled Chicken that made me like it.

Chicken Hot Wings

The Chicken Tenders speak for themselves.  They are fried to a Golden Brown with a slightly crunchy crust.  I got these in a basket with Steak Fires.  I love some Steak Fries.  It is hard to find them at a restaurant anymore.  These were off the hook.  Ketchup and Honey Mustard are included in the basket.

I have also tried the Rib-eye Steak.  I am a person that likes their steak cooked well done.   Ok, let’s go with extra well done.   Now I understand that it takes a well versed griller to cook a steak that way and not make it tough.  I am happy to report that the steak I got at Stell’s was still tender and full of flavor.

On a side note, while eating there one day, a guy next to me

Roast Beef Sandwich

ordered the Roast Beef Sandwich.  When it was brought to his table, I was shocked.  It was a huge sandwich with a fork stuck in the top of it.  It was dripping gravy off the sides of the sandwich.  It actually looked really good.

Owners Mark Stell and his Daughter Danielle Stell run a top notch restaurant.  They have Karaoke during the week as well as having Bike Night for the bikers out there.  There is a pool table if you want to play a game or two.  Overall, I was very impressed with the food as well as the layout of the restaurant.  By separate the dining area from the bar area, I believe that the restaurant can meet the needs of the various people out there.

So, if you’re hungry, go try Stell’s Sports Grille.  It is located in the strip mall behind Hardees at the U.S. 43/ U.S. 72 Intersection, just down from Mike’s Merchandise.  I think you will enjoy the food as well as the atmosphere.

Mark & Danielle Stell

As this article was being written, an addition to the menu has gone in effect.  I have photos of the menu as well as the addition below.

As a side note, when I walked in, I saw that Mark and Danielle has a Thin Blue Line as well as a Thin Red Line Flag, representing Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters.  As a retired Police Officer, it did my heart good to see that.
