Robert Harold Wiley went to be with his Lord April 27, 2018.  He was born in Rogersville, Alabama, the son of Odie and Hattie Wiley, on May 7, 1935.  He married Myra Haraway in 1960 and according to Harold, “She is the best thing that ever happened to me.”  They had three children Sonya (deceased), Robert Aaron of Placitas, N.M., and Marie of Huntsville. Most Saturday mornings were spent talking with his siblings Janice, Jewel (recently deceased), and Ted (deceased).

He graduated from Lexington High School, attended and studied accounting at Larimore Business College in Florence and received a Certificate in Accounting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  He worked in private industry, spending most of his working years as an accountant with Teledyne Wah Chang before retiring from there in 1997.

Harold enjoyed writing and authored three books The Way I Remember It, Jubilee, and Around the Bend, Over the Hill. He loved photography and travel. He re-lived his travel experiences through the photographic and written travelogues that he produced of their family vacations. He also had a great love of music, reading, and walking while adoring God’s planet.  His collection of vacation stories, music, and movies are catalogued meticulously, as one might expect of an accountant.

He was a member of Heritage Primitive Church and loved that church.  It was a pleasure for him to attend Sunday services, as well as prayer meetings, in addition to visiting other Primitive Baptist churches, and fellowship with the Saints.

We will miss his infectious laugh, his jolly personality, his stories and his dedication to family, friends and his church and God.  Rest in peace, dear Harold- son, brother, husband, father, and friend.  You will live in our hearts forever.

The Celebration of Harold’s Life will be held at Spry Funeral Home, 24ll North Parkway, Huntsville, AL 35810; viewing at 1:00 p.m.; memorial service at 2:00 p.m..  Burial will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill Street, SE, Huntsville 35801.
