Travis DeFoor, Sr. from the community of Thach in Jasper, Alabama, passed away March 19,2018, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Mae Gay DeFoor last year.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, officiated by Sonny Bennett with Masonic graveside services at Bennett Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sid and Nettie DeFoor, sister, Eunice DeFoor Rea, and brothers J. L. and Walton DeFoor.
He is survived by his son, Travis DeFoor, Jr., his wife Debra and their daughter Shelly Nickles, her husband Jason and their sons Dalton Travis and Coleman Nickles; and daughter Jamie Sessions, her husband John Henry and their children, Kristan and John Travis Sessions.
He is survived by daughter Judy DeFoor Garrett and her husband Charles; and daughter Janet Henry and her son Michael Butler, Jr., whose daughter is Brianna Nicole, son, Wesley Findley, his wife Miranda and their daughter Emma Grace and son, Justin Henry and his wife Jessica and their daughter Ava.
Mr. DeFoor was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired engineer from the State of Alabama Highway Departrnent after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Alabama Masonic Grand Lodge for 48 years and was a Past Master of Lamon Chapel Masonic Lodge #723. He was also a member of the lnternational Order of Oddfellows.
