Kenneth Irwin Parrish, 78, of Priceville, formally of Double Springs, entered into rest on February 2, 2018 at Decatur Morgan General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Parrish was born on June 18, 1939, in Double Springs, Alabama. Kenneth was a graduate of Winston County High School, attended Calhoun Community College, and served in the National Guard. He was a member of South Chapel Hill Baptist Church for 4 years, and served Priceville Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. He was also a member of Jaycees and the Quarterback Club. Kenneth was an industrial mechanic at 3M Manufacturing for 10 years and then Delphi Corporation for 20 years, where he was awarded numerous suggestion awards. Kenneth loved sports of any kind, especially Alabama Crimson Tide. He enjoyed rescuing animals, bird watching, yard work, going to the beach, but he especially loved his poodles.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Brother Rayburn Whitman will officiate. Burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Lynda Parrish; son, Kevin Parrish; daughter, Leah Farley, and her husband Dennis; and sister, Charlotte Shadix. He was “Grandaddy” to granddaughter, Sarah Farley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Chloe Parrish; and grandparents, Taylor and Susan Peoples.
