William Benton “Billy” Snoddy, age 88, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018.
Visitation will be today, 5-7 p.m., at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 25, 1 p.m., at Center Star Church where he will lie in state from noon-1 p.m. with Brother Curtis Scofield and Brother Stan Pruitt officiating. Interment will be at Center Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Nuby, Greg Nuby, Holden Corum, Caleb Waddell, Bob Dison, and Barron Hamilton.
Holland Greer, James Spry, Bayless Thornton, Wayne Parker, Steve Grider, Charles “Toot” Snoddy, and Charles Phillips will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Snoddy was a charter member of Center Star Church where he served as an elder and song director. He was retired from TVA as an administrative officer and as treasurer for many years of TVA Retirement Association. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War and was a volunteer at ECM Hospital for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Mavis Snoddy; sisters, Lela Dison, Lucille Holden, and Betty Narmore; and brothers, Reeder and Maples Snoddy.
Survivors include loving wife of 33 years, Nancy Snoddy; daughter, Billie Sue Nuby (Glenn); sister, Marie Oldham; brother, Johnny Snoddy (Merle); grandchildren, Christopher Glenn Nuby (Jane) and Gregory Benton Nuby (Chelsy); great-grandchildren, Lucas Benton and Alice Emeline Nuby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
