Paul Norman Blount – Obituary

Paul Norman Blount was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 13, 1939, the son of the late Jones and Beulah Harrison Blount. On June 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Fowler, who survives. Paul departed this life on December 30, 2017, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

Paul was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and he served his country in the United States National Guard for 10 years. He was a founding member of the Alpha Gamma Rho, the 911 emergency responders, and the past president of the Highway Commisioners. In his lifetime, Paul worked for the Hardin County Highway Commisioners for 20 years, Blount Gardening and Drainage for 20 years, as a salesman for Roadbuilder’s Equipment Company for 10 years, and Construction Services. He collected road construction equipment, which he loved working with. Paul enjoyed talking to people and was known as a historian that especially loved learning about Hardin County’s history.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, Paul is survived by his son, Gregory Paul Blount of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Mary Carol Blount Alexander and husband Chris of Lexington, Tennessee; sister, Virginia Ann McFall and husband Eugene of Corinth, Mississippi; grandchildren, Elijah Christopher Alexander, Paul Fielder Alexander, Graham Kerr Alexander, and Sophia Rose Alexander and her boyfriend, Adam Stricklin Lewis; one great grandchild, Hattie Rose Lewis; special niece and great nieces, Gina Doran, Cassie Ruddle, and Christa Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Paula Jane Blount, and his brothers, Clyde Blount, Bruce Blount, and Dean Blount.
