Bro. Jimmy L. Curle, resident of the Ripley Community, lifelong Tippah Countian and beloved husband, father, grandfather, minister and friend to many, departed this life surrounded to be with his Lord and Saviour Tuesday afternoon October 17, 2017 surrounded by family at the North Mississippi Hospice Center in Tupelo following an extended illness.
Funeral Services honoring the Christian life of Bro. Jimmy will be at 2 PM Friday, October 20 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Stacy McKee officiating assisted by Bro. Robert Buse. Graveside services will follow in New Salem Cemetery near Walnut with Minister Kenny James officiating.
Born February 1, 1947 in Tiplersville, he was the son of the late Lesley and Alma Seawright Curle. Bro. Jimmy was a 1965 graduate of Walnut High School and was married on December 14, 1968 to his devoted wife, the former Linda Shelby, a native of Benton County, who survives.
Bro. Jimmy was a loving and faithful pastor to New Hope Baptist Church, Clear Creek Baptist Church and Chewella Baptist Church for over 35 years . After retiring six years ago he served as an interim pastor and chaplain at the local nursing homes in the Tippah County area. A faithful child of God, Bro. Jimmy devoted his life to sharing the love he received from Christ with all whose lives he touched.
Bro. Jimmy will be remembered as a family oriented person who had a zest for life and a passion for traveling which included ocean cruises and yearly trips to Gatlinburg. His pleasant disposition and deep love for his family and friends permitted him to “never go to sleep angry ” or be ungrateful. He was known for his enjoyment of religious music and adored his granddaughter, Harper.
Visitation will continue Friday at The Ripley Funeral Home until service time.
In addition to his loving wife of 49 years, he is survived by his sons, Brad Curle (Leslie) of Ripley and Scott Curle (Michelle) of Oxford, two grandchildren, Harper Curle and Marlana Porter (Hunter) and two great grandchildren, Henley and Mason Porter.
Bro. Jimmy was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jamie Booker and Mary Helen Curle.
The family request that memorials be directed to the Springdale Mission Fund, 581 East Walnut, Ripley , MS 38663 or to The Gideons, PO Box 4, Ripley, MS 38663.
“Well done. Thy good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the Joy of the Lord.”
