Funeral service for Sgt. Anthony Clay Stroup, 33, of Danville, Alabama, will be Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Donnie McDonald, his uncle, officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Stroup Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sgt. Anthony Stroup passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 in Pensacola, Florida. Born in Decatur, Alabama on June 1, 1984, Anthony went to school in Danville, Alabama. He married Shannon (Mull) Stroup on Feb. 15, 2006. He was the amazing father of Landon and Hailee Stroup. Sgt.Stroup proudly served our country in the U.S. Army as a 2-1 CAV Scout, and a member of the 160th Special Operations. He was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and received many awards in service including 13 Certificates of Acheivements, three Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Iraqi Campaign Medals with campaign star, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Expert Weapons Badges and SOCOM Tab.

The family of Sgt. Anthony Stroup wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Building Homes for Heroes, T.A.P.S., and the community for all of their support at this time.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon Stroup; one son, Landon Stroup; one daughter, Hailee Stroup; mom/ mawmaw, Beverly McDonald; dad, Pacer Stroup; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Capt. Mac Romulus, Sgt. Ben Decker, Sgt. 1st Class Mike Napier, Senior Master Sgt. David Switzer, Buddy Lovell, and Zach Story.

Honorary pallbearers will be Staff Sgt. Jason Panergo, Sgt. Jack Frye, Josh Westmoreland, and Wade Weatherby.
