Ida Mae Whittle Thompson – Obituary

Ida Mae Whittle Thompson age 93 from Tuscumbia, AL passed away Saturday morning at her home after a brief illness. Ida was born in Fort Payne, AL, but had lived in Colbert County for over 70 years and it was home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and 32 years of volunteer service as a Pink Lady with Helen Keller Hospital. Ida was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend to many and a lifelong farmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Odell Thompson; her mother, Neally Whittle; father, Eugene Whittle; daughter, Gloria Thompson Holt; grandson, Dell Thompson; and granddaughter, Tricia Thompson.

Ida is survived by her sons, Gary Thompson and wife Nell, Billy Thompson and wife Vicki, and Tommy Thompson; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22nd from 12:00 until 2:00 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia followed by her Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Brother Darrell Pace, Pastor of CalvaryBaptist Church of Tuscumbia and son, Billy W Thompson will represent the family.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Frankie Holt, Heath Thompson, Cody Thompson, Max Thompson, Trooper Thompson, Denver Thompson; great-grandson, Clay Hites; and also David Hites.
