“Let your light shine…” Matthew 5:14-16
On Oct. 13, 1962, God sent a beautiful baby girl to her parents, Thomas (deceased) and Tiny Savage. She spent her formative years under the watchful care of her “Uncle Pig” (George Williams, deceased). Loretta accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at First Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek, Alabama where she was an active and faithful member until moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1987.
Loretta attended West Morgan High School where she was involved in cheerleading and athletics. She was energetic, smart, and had a thirst for knowledge which lead her to pursue a degree from the University of North Alabama in computer information systems where she graduated with the Bachelor of Science. She was active in the community, numerous organizations, and campus affairs as well as leading the school in sporting events as a cheerleader at her alma mater along with the cheerleading team. The years of happiness and cheer afforded her the opportunity to meet the man of her dreams. It was during her college years at UNA that Loretta met her future husband, Greg.
United in matrimony on March 28, 1987, Greg and Loretta were joined in the eyes of the Lord and became as one for the next 30 years. Sharing one last loving anniversary together just before her departure, they traveled, laughed, talked and reminisced. Their union blessed them with two children, Allen and Sydney, who were the joy of her life. She was a devoted mother and always pushed her children to be their best and to be positive minded in all their endeavors; “If you dream it, you have the ability to achieve that dream.” She loved friends and family always seeking time to talk, laugh, travel, and spend time with them. Her big personality and smile were an encouragement to everyone in the family to commit to attending the numerous family reunions that took them to exotic, far, and deep places of fun. As the coordinator of the Williams-Hill family reunion she did not take no for an answer; she wanted her family together. To achieve her goal of family togetherness she organized her family’s first family reunion and served as president for the past 29 years.
Her adventurous spirit led her to Delta Airlines where she was employed for 30 years as a flight attendant. Her dream was to see the world. Delta Airlines afforded her the opportunity to achieve that dream. Her love for people and never meeting a stranger demeanor, Loretta was a friend to many all over the world. The same big, bright, shiny personality she shared with family and friends opened the door for the start of her successful window treatment business. Loretta’s energetic, tireless, and outgoing personality incited activity in the lives of her children as she followed them to every ball game and swim meet cheering them on as the greatest and number one cheerleader of their lives, Mom.
Her inspiring and caring personality made people love her and her family. She embraced her journey and taught everyone so much about loving life and getting the most out of it.
