Annie Lucille Franklin – Obituary

Annie Lucille Franklin, 97, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Healthwin in South Bend.

Lucille was born on Sept. 9, 1919, in Kendrick, Mississippi to Ed and Annie M. (Kiddy) Sandusky. She grew up in and around Savannah, Tennessee and married Jessie Zar Franklin in Savannah, Tennessee. They moved to Mishawaka, Indiana in the early 1950s. Lucille was a member of the Currant Road Church of Christ in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Lucille is survived by one son, Jessie Eugene Franklin, of South Bernd, Indiana; one daughter, Barbara A. Walden in the Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend; four granddaughters, Kelly Payne, Laura Franklin, and Margaret Franklin, all of Washington state, and Tina Highland, of Mishawaka, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Steven Highland and Sabrina Parker, of Mishawaka, Indiana; two great-greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Cagle, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, and Shelby Pigg, of Tuscumbia, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Franklin; her father, Ed Sandusky; her mother, Annie M. Sandusky; two daughters, Jackie Nell Franklin and Amanda Franklin; one grandson, Gary Highland; five brothers, RD Sandusky, GC Sandusky, JE Sandusky, Howard Sandusky, and Kenith Sandusky; and one nephew, Randall Madden.

Lucille worked for Wells Manufacturing and retired in 1977. She was a member of Currant Road Church of Christ, Mishawaka.

Visitation was on Tuesday, May 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
