Horace Quitman Turner Jr., 72, passed away Monday. He was born in Citronelle, AL to Horace Quitman Turner Sr. and Ettalee Moffett Turner. Mr. Turner was a proud graduate of Auburn University, receiving his degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1966.
He is survived by his adored wife of more than 50 years, Shelia Jo Payne Turner; six fortunate children, Lyell (Jamie), Kyell (Kim), H. Quitman III (Carrie), Desireé Maurice (Michael), Zachary (Melissa), and Benjamin (Rachael); 16 treasured grandchildren, Courtney, Kayla Logan (Tom), Gavin, McKenzie, Emma, Ethan, Evan, Madeline, Sydney, Quade, Asher and Avery Maurice, Lucas, Adler, Elijah and Sophia; one great-grandson, Bentley; brothers, Herbert (Janice), Hilton (Opal) and Howard Turner of Citronelle, AL; mother-in-law, Velma Payne, brothers-in-law, John (Cathy) and William (Susan) Payne; aunts, Evelyn and Wilkilene Smith; and one spoiled Keeshond, Bella.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Parish Life Center, with the funeral Mass following in the sanctuary. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Mid South Chapter, Huntsville, AL.
