Dr. Muris “Bo” Raybon Boshell, Sr., passed away peacefully at Hendrix Healthcare, while he was surrounded by his family, on February 13, 2017.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Dr. John Faulkner will officiate.

Dr. Boshell was born on a farm on December 12, 1934 to Harvey and Lela Alexander Boshell, in Bear Creek, Alabama.  He grew up on the farm, where he learned the value of hard work, and the work ethic that he would carry with him the rest of his life.  He graduated from Phillips High School in 1953, attended Auburn University for one year, and entered the US Army for two years.  He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1959.

Dr. Boshell started his first chiropractic practice in 1959 in Haleyville, Alabama, and he enjoyed helping people get better through chiropractic care.  He was a member of the International Chiropractic Knights of the Round Table, a prestigious chiropractic organization that was by invitation only, and held the 21st chiropractic license in Alabama.  He loved his work, and also loved people.  He instilled a love of chiropractic and helping people in his children, and all three followed in his footsteps to become chiropractors themselves.  He started a second practice in 1992, in Jasper, Alabama, where Dr. Tina and Dr. Josh joined him in practice, and Dr. Ray and his wife Dr. Amy took over the Haleyville practice.

Dr. Boshell was a Gideon and a Sunday School teacher for many years.  Dr. Boshell was an amateur magician who performed at schools and churches, and loved to make people smile and wonder how the tricks were done.  He was an avid pilot, and logged many hours in the sky and loved to fly.  He once even flew over  the Bermuda Triangle.  His hobby was real estate, and he built, sold and flipped houses most of his life; he loved making deals, and good ones made him happy.

Dr. Boshell loved to travel and visited 6 out of 7 continents.  He went on several mission trips to Nigeria, and while there on one of them, he treated 484 new patients in one day, which is a world record.  He loved seeing new places and trying new things.  He loved old cars and animals, and always had several of each.  His antique cars won dozens of trophies, and he loved showing them.

Dr. Boshell was a positive thinker, and one of his mottos was “to do common things uncommonly well”, and he accomplished that most of his life.  His legacy will be cherished by his family, friends and church family for years to come.  He is going to be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lela Boshell, brother, Dr. Buris R. Boshell, sister, Marie Carden, and daughters, Vickie, Anna and Angela Boshell.

He is survived by his Wife of 37 years, Donna Peak Boshell, mother and father-in-law, James and Vivian Peak, sons,  Dr. Ray Boshell and wife Dr. Amy, Dr. Josh Boshell and wife Amy and daughter, Dr. Tina Boshell Wilson and husband Rod.  The grandchildren that Dr. Boshell adored are Jedi, Melissa and Kimber Boshell, Ivan, Alex and Cortland Wilson and Taylor and Jackson Boshell; they were the delight of his life.

Pallbearers will be Rod Wilson, Junior Burleson, Terry Price, Paul Sullivan, Jedi Boshell and Harold Painter.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the The Gideons International Organization.
