Graveside service for Mrs. Alda “Nell” Long Russell, age 84 of Decatur, will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, 3:00 pm at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, with Rev. Dr. Chris Martin officiating. Mrs. Russell who died Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at her residence was born Dec. 12, 1932 in Lawrence Co. Alabama to Wallace and Virgie Waldrap Long.
Mrs. Nell loved her husband of 66 years and was a proud parent to their son, she also loved the many friends and extended family. Nell lived her life in the Pleasant Hll Community for many years.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her husband David Russell “The Baseball Man”, one son Davie “Randy” Randall Russell, brother H.C. “Buddy” Long, sister Jean Long Moebes and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation for all the kindness shown to them over the last few years from caregivers, Tenni Smith, Becky Denham, Kim Wells, Carolyn Barrentine and Faye Garrison, and to Hospice of the Valley and Alacare.
