Walter Marynowski – Obituary

Walter Marynowski, 91, left on his final journey to the Promised Land on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. He joins Betty, his wife of 62 years, and his parents, Steve and Veronica. Walter leaves behind his sisters, Victoria (late Ralph) Weidner of Hammond, Indiana; Adeline (late John) Jerich of Merrillville, Indiana and Sylvia Tiltges of Schererville, Indiana; daughters, Theresa (Ralph) Corriere of Hammond, Indiana, Chris (John) Covington of Hartselle and Virginia (Greg) Durham of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his son, Brian (Vivienne) of Tuscon, Arizona; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his dear friend, Shirley Austin of Hartselle.

Walter’s journey began in Hammond, Indiana on Jan. 6, 1926. He lived life to the fullest and his life adventures included serving in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. While serving, he hitchhiked through many states and met his wife in Neodesha, Kansas. Walter earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University. It was his 38 years of employment at Cerestar that brought him to Alabama and residence in Moulton in 1977. His many travels with his family and work took him to all 50 states, Poland, China, Brussels, Czech Republic, Canada and Mexico. Walter golfed throughout his life whenever he could, skied at age 86, went horseback riding at 87 and zip-lined at 88. He was a member of Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church in Decatur.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Deacon Bob Laremore officiating. A time of visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in his name to Good Samaritan Outreach in Moulton and to the American Cancer Society.
