Charles Franklin Burdick, Jr. – Obituary

charlesCharles Franklin Burdick, Jr., 85, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at North Miss. Medical Center Hospice Unit after a brief illness. Mr. Burdick was born March 19, l931in Covington Co, Alabama to Charles F. and Myrtice Pugh Burdick. Soldier Burdick served in the U. S. Air Force after World War II before the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Alaska before its statehood. He lived and worked in Alabama until moving to the Tupelo area in l969. His working career included partnering as an associate with Larry Michaels at Transport Trailer, where he served as general manager until his retirement. He was a major part of the growth and success of the business over the years. A Baptist and a Blue Lodge Mason, Charles enjoyed TV ministry, gardening, fishing and all things Alabama Crimson Tide.

There will be no formal service at this time. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel between 4 PM-6PM Thursday. He will be buried in the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Straughn, Ala. near his birthplace. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving the family.

Survivors include his children: Emily Wambles of Saltillo; Jennifer Dennington (Dayton) of Plantersville and Dr. Hoyt Burdick, M.D. (Amy Jones) of Huntington, West Virginia. 7 grandchildren; Angelia Herring (Jason), Larry Wambles (Jessica), Amanda Ghio (Jason), Michelle Dorough, Kimberly Brazeal (Trent), Jeffrey Burdick (Kari) and Anastasia Burdick. 12 great grandchildren; Bethanne (Jonathan), Laiken Herring, Jack Barton Herring, Braxton, Ethan and Evan Miller, Andrew and Casen Brazeal, and Jackson, Jude, Miles and Graham Burdick. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Mother of his children, Mary Angelia Barton Burdick, his great grandson, Matthew and 4 siblings; Gladys Howard, Fred Burdick, Bibb Burdick and Ann Head.
