Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Bird Hardin, age 85, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Dr. Hoyt Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Mrs. Hardin, the daughter of the late Cade Stanford and Leta Gray Bird, died Friday, September 9, 2016, in Jackson, TN. She was the salutatorian of the 1948 class of Lexington High School and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington and had many interests. Mrs. Hardin had a love of knowledge, always dreamed of being a writer or journalist and appreciated literacy. She took pride in her cooking and enjoyed traveling and camping with her family in earlier years. Her testament was to be a great wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters: Valerie Jean Hardin (James) Kizer of Lexington and Janna Rose Hardin Jones of Knoxville; and a son, James Timothy (Carol) Hardin of Lexington; four grandsons: Jared (Lezlie) Kizer and their children, Carson and Owen Kizer, Jordan (Cassie) Kizer and their children, Macy and Conner Kizer; Jesse Gray Jones and Jentry Indigo Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Tom Frank Hardin.
