FLORENCE-On Saturday, July 16 the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library launched the library’s new makerspace, The Collaboratory. All the fun started at 11:00 am and went on until 2:00 pm.
All in all there were about 500 folks who came out to join in the big event. The event was free and visitors went from station to station trying out 3D printing, music and sound recording, some used the green screen photography. There were robotics and other hands-on-activities. There was something for everyone, no matter the age.
“Libraries are about learning, and there are so many different ways to learn, including hands-on experience and training with technology and tools,” says Sanford. “It’s our job as a library to find innovative ways to help people in our community learn.”
