The funeral for Katherine Jean Dempsey Roberts, 79, will be today at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. James LeMay officiating. Burial will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mrs. Roberts, who died Friday, June 24, 2016, in Eva, was born Friday, March 12, 1937, to Arthur Ballenger and Hettie F Ballenger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hoyt Ray Roberts; a son, Roger Dale Hoskins; and three brothers, Bobby Ballenger, Earl Ballenger, and Earskin Ballenger.
Survivors include one daughter, Tonya (Lee) Duke, of Decatur; three sons, Tony (Charlene) Hoskins, of Athens, Ronnie (Linda) Dempsey,of Eva, and Terry Hoskins; two brothers, Michael Ballenger, of Fairview, and Rickey Ballenger, of Eva; two sisters, Sue (Lilly) Weaver, of Foley, and Sandra (David) Mann, of Brilliant; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Ballenger, Dustin Ransom, Anthony Melson, Brady Hoskins, and Austin Mann.
