Margaret Ann Kelley Rhodes of Florence died on June 5, 2016 after a long- term illness. She was a wonderful homemaker who saw to it that her family was able to participate in many church and school activities. She was well known for her homemade biscuits, cornbread and sweet tea. Mrs. Rhodes was honored to serve as a voter registrar in Lauderdale County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Flora Mel Kelley; her husband, Thomas “Harold” Rhodes, Sr.; son, Thomas “Tommy” Rhodes, Jr.; brothers, Gentry Kelley, John Kelley; sisters, Jewel Dean Tate and Brenda Kelley.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Mitchell (Steve), Florence and Valerie Thigpen (Steve), Killen, grandchildren, Jeremy Williams (Jessica), Jessica Kroner (Kyle), Wendi Simmons (Jason), Brandy Thigpen, Marc Mitchell (Greg) and Alex Mitchell; nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church on Tuesday June 7th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service followed at 1 p.m. at the church. Graveside service was in the church cemetery. Nephews served as pallbearers.
