MOULTON-On Friday, May 20 Anita Parker, 43 of Moulton was arrested and faces charges of animal cruelty.
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff Parker killed her small dog then proceeded to cut open the pet’s stomach taking the animal’s blood to fake a miscarriage.
The Sheriff said on Thursday, May 19 Parker called 911 and asked for help after staging her miscarriage. She was taken to the hospital where doctors discovered she had not had a miscarriage.
Parker’s boyfriend found the mutilated dog in a garbage can at the home after Parker had been taken to the hospital. Authorities say Parker told her boyfriend she was pregnant with his child in order to convince him to return home. The miscarriage was staged to cover up this lie.
Anita Parker has since confessed to the crime and is now in the Lawrence County Jail. Her bond has been set at $7,000.
