Tommy Ray Evans, 64, of Warrior died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Athens. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Limestone Memorial Gardens with Pastor Pat Lawrence officiating. McConnell Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
He was born July 31, 1951 to J.B. and Erma Evans. Tommy was preceded in death by his father; father-in-law, Sam Ed Gates and mother-in-law, Marie Gates.He was an employee of Carrier Transicold South in Birmingham for over 20 years.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Paulette Gates Evans and three children, Eric Evans of the Reid community; Dennis’ (Shawn) Alvarez of Madison and Master Sgt. Zachary (Danielle) Motley of Lakenheath, England; six grandchildren, Emily Evans, Halee Evans, Jackson Motley, Wyatt Haddock, Eli Alvarez and Sam Alvarez; his mother, Erma Evans; two brothers, Gene (Peggy) Evans and Jerry (Debbie) Evans; three sisters, Nancy (Wesley) Gatlin, Suzanne Russell and Susan Hudson, all of Athens; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Master Sgt. Zachary Motley, Shawn Alvarez, Bradley Evans, Shawn Gatlin, Dylan Stagner, Jake Stagner, Larry Bonner and B.J. Nease.
