ATHENS-The Athens Police Department made two arrests over the weekend. Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement on the arrests:

Barbara D Smith was arrested Friday on a warrant for burglary 3rd degree. On March 16, 2016 the police department received a complaint that Smith had taken 60 hydromorphone tablets from an apartment at 808 Swan Drive. Investigator Joe McClanhan obtained a warrant for Smith after an investigation was completed. Smith was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.

Thomas Wayne Martin was arrested Friday on a warrant for failure of an adult sex offender to register with law enforcement. Martin was registered with our department till September 2015 at the Town and Country Motel on US 31 South. Martin left the motel and didn’t report a new address as required by law. Officer Greg Parnell obtained a warrant for Martins arrest on September 22, 2015. Martin was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.
