Michael Joe Collier, 43, of Florence, passed away on February 21, 2016. He was a member of Palisades Church of Christ in Homewood, Alabama, and a veteran of the United States Army.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 6:00 -9:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with David Highland officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery with military honors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Joe Collier.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Burns and his step-father, Charles Burns both of Florence; brother, Robert Owen Collier (Sherry) of Waterloo; sister, LaWanda Collier (Ed Hanson); nephew, Robert Owen Collier II; niece, Brittney Raye Miller(Justin); great-nephew, Bryson Owen Collier, all of Florence and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles of whom he loved dearly.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Gary Burns, B.J. Burns, Kenneth Hargett, Steve Guthrie, Robert Collier II and Randy Ivey.
James Hinton, Justin Welch and Justin Miller will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family request monetary donations to help defray funeral expenses.
