Derwin Leslie Smith, 80, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He was a United States Air Force veteran and retired from Chrysler Corporation Electronics Division as a Corporate Auditor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Virgie Smith; sisters, Clarice Edwards and Grace Couch; brother, Thomas Smith. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Lambert Smith; Daughter Linda Gayle Leggett (Chris); son, Allen Smith (Sonia); granddaughters, Catherine Duke and Ashley Jones; four great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday at Berryhill Funeral Home from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a chapel service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. Rev. Gerome Hilliard will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midway Baptist Church Building Fund. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
