Ewell Smithson: February 4, 1915 – July 7, 2012. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 10, 2012, 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Rev. Billy Thorn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Interment will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smithson was born on February 4, 1915 to Oce Eugene Smithson and Clara Notgrass Smithson in West Point, Tennessee. He died on July 7, 2012 at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville, Alabama. He was a lifelong resident of Littleville, Alabama, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Littleville. He retired as an electrician with TVA after 41 years of service. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and was a past Commander of the American Legion, a Mason and a member of the Littleville Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret James Smithson. He is survived by his wife, Una White Smithson; one son James Smithson (Pat) of Decatur, Alabama; sister, Annette Smithson Whitlock of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; two grandchildren, Virginia Eden (Jason) of Atlanta, Ga., Charles Richard Smithson (Jessica) of Charleston, S. C.; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Bates and Oliver Eden; three stepsons, Craig Kelley (Vicki) of Rogersville, Alabama; Ken Kelley (Jaime) of Florence, Alabama, Mike Kelley of Muscle Shoals; four step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.
