It does not matter how many times you fall down or get back up. What matters is the drive to grin and say “is that all you got?” when you get knocked down.

Our family was truly blessed when on the cold snowy day of January 27th 1980 this 8lb 15oz bundle with blonde hair and blue eyes was born at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama. He grew to be a giant of a man and the bigness of his heart grew with his stature. It was the good fortune of those who knew him.

Sam Barron graduated from Sparkman High School in 1998. He participated in the ROTC program there. The ROTC director and the Guidance Counselor there re¬marked as to what a good person he was while in attendance there. He was on the staff for the Patriot Press at Central Florida College.

Sam Barron, called Beau by family and friends, is survived by his mother and stepfa¬ther, Charles L and Carolyn Greer. Charlie had been his father for the past twenty-three years. Also by his sister Kim Sheppard (Paul); his brother Gary Wright II; Bran¬don Mabrey; nephew Zac Sledge and wife Anna Cain Sledge and by his nephew’s little ones that their Uncle Beau adored, Logan Sledge and Taylor Anne Sledge; by four un¬cles, three aunts and their families
.
Sam Barron worked for Signal 88 as an armed security guard in Ocala, Florida. His current assignment was to patrol the huge horse farm here with the magnificent Fresian horses and to guard the huge Fed Ex facility being built. His future looked bright. It was while on duty that he passed away from natural causes resulting from Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease at 1:46am, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the age of 35.

A visitation will be Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Shane Swinney officiating. His body will be interred at Guy Cemetery in Tuscumbia, Alabama where his beloved grandmother, Slena Mae Peebles Murray, is buried. Attire for his funeral will be a ‘no dress up’ occasion. Beau was not a dress up kind of person.

Pallbearers are Michael Darling, Keith Inman, Tommy Mills, Randy Wallace, Blake Sheppard, Harold Mitchell, Paul Sheppard and Joel Speegle.

Our little family was blessed mightily to have this gentle giant to grace our lives for the past thirty-five years. He was a gentle soul, quiet in demeanor but strong in character; he loved his family and suffered hurts silently. Sam’s sister said it best when she said, “I pray that he is at a shooting range of pure gold…and has endless ammo.”

A scholarship fund of $500 will be awarded annually in May in his honor. The award of $500 toward books will go to a deserving student attending Northwest-Shoals Community College.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to Cherokee Elementary would be appreciated in his memory and Logan and Taylor Anne will be tasked with making se¬lections of items or books in his name with the help of their cousin Janna Edgin who teaches there. Donations may be sent to Cherokee Elementary School, 1305 N. Pike, Cherokee, Alabama 35616. Put attention: Janna Edgin.

The family expresses special thanks to Beyers Funeral Home in Ocala, FL, Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia and all of the pallbearers.
