Mary Jewel Brown, 87, of Muscle Shoals passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Stan Smith officiating. The burial will be at Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Corinth, Mississippi but lived most of her life in the Shoals area and was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gene E. Brown; son, Jerry Brown; parents, Hugh and Lillie Mae Nelms; brothers, Gilbert, Stanley, and Wade Nelms; and sister, Helen Salter.
She is survived by her son, Larry Brown, Sr. (Shelia); daughters, Charlotte Clayton (Ricky) and Sherry Barkley (Tim); ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jay, Brett, and Joel Brown, Dewayne and Daryl Clayton, and Austin Barkley. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Thomas Clayton, Jacob Mewbourne, Dylan Boyd, Brody Thompson, and Peyton Manus.
