FLORENCE-The Florence Police report an officer was struck by a truck last night. The name of the officer has not been released. Here is how the Florence Police describe the incident:
“A Florence Police Officer is recovering at home this morning after being struck and pinned by a large truck shortly before midnight. The incident occurred near the intersection of Highway 20 and County Road 14 in Florence. The officer was assisting with a traffic crash when he became pinned between a commercial vehicle and an SUV. With the assistance of several people at the scene he was freed and transported from the scene by EMS. The officer received treatment at a local hospital and was later released with minor injuries. Florence Police responded to over 60 calls of wrecks and/or stalled vehicles between 8p and 2a this morning.”
