Funeral service for Richard Jones, age 65, of Decatur, will be Friday, January 23, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee Carter officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Mr. Jones, who died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at his residence, was born April 16, 1949, in Huntsville, to Freddie R. Jones and Willie Mae Swords Jones. He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Chris Jones. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Jones of Decatur; one son, Mark Jones (Natasha) of Decatur; his mother, Willie Mae Jones of Madison; one brother, Joe Jones of Madison; one sister, Linda Olive of Madison; and two grandchildren, Kayli Jones and Chase Jones.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Milligan, Aaron Lang, Kevin Winkles, Jeremy Carter, Keith Brown, Stephen Brown, Brett Atwood, and Gerald Newsom.
