Bobby “Bob” Joe Marbutt – Obituary

bob, 72, of Haleyville, entered into rest Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Haleyville Healthcare.

Mr. Marbutt was born on September 9, 1942. Bob was a Member of Christ Fellowship Assembly of God for 33 years, where he taught Sunday school. He attended Phillips High School and furthered his education at the University of North Alabama. Bob was a Phillips High School football and basketball coach and went on to coach and teach history at West Morgan High School. He was employed by Crown Imports. He spent 10 years employed by Dolphin Homes as a salesman where he earned the nickname “Dial-a-Deal” by his colleagues. Bob was also a salesman at Commodore Homes where he was employed for another 10 years. He enjoyed “piddling” and fishing, he loved his grandchildren and Alabama football. He was an excellent provider and made lots of sacrifices for his family. He spent lots of time on Bear Creek Fishing. Bob loved his son Max, and taught him and his grandson Seab how to drive a lawnmower and taught all the grandchildren how to fish. He was a man of few words, but meant what he said when he said something. He was a secret video game player (Mario) and loved to read. Bob had strong American values, loved to learn, and encouraged his entire family to get an education. He also enjoyed listening to gospel and country music.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 4:30-5pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where a memorial service will be held 5pm. Brother Ronnie Marbutt will officiate.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Marbutt; daughter, Leslie Marbutt; and son, Max Marbutt. He was “Pawpaw” to 2 grandchildren, Seab Thomas Hunter, 19, Annalee Hunter, 18; and a cousin, Robert Marbutt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Marbutt; and a brother, Tommy Marbutt.
