Graveside service for Rickey D. Basden, age 64, of Decatur, will be Saturday, November 1, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. Shelton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mr. Basden, passed away Thursday, October 30th, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Helen Basden, and two brothers, Jerry Basden and Mike Basden.
Rickey was owner and CEO of Basden Construction located in Decatur, AL. His attention to detail and quality made him a dependable home builder for decades in Decatur and surrounding areas. His personality made him unique, and his honesty made it hard to not like him. Straightforward with his comments and opinions, but the bottom line was that you would get the best home for your money. His giving heart and helpfulness were qualities that so many knew, and he wanted nothing in return. Rickey gave so people could get past their tough times. “Basden” you will truly be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Gaylor Varnell Basden; two daughters, Jeri Ann Basden of Johnson City, TN, and Wendy Basden of Decatur; and one sister, Shirley Ward of Gadsden.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or your local hospice group.
