Lyndon Wayne Funderburk, 74, met his Lord and Savior on the morning of October 12, 2014, at his home with his wife by his side.
Lyndon was born July 9, 1940, the last of 11 children to James Eve and Lydia Grissom Funderburk. On June 18, 1959, he married Helen Yielding Funderburk. He was a member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy in Mooreville. He began working at a young age for Mac Kirksey Construction. In the 60s, he was co-owner of the Fulton Drag Strip with Bobby Beard and the late Jimmy Riley. He later worked at Super Sagless as a maintenance supervisor. In the late 70s along with his wife and children, Lyndon built and operated Funderburk’s One Stop, later named Mantachie Foods, until the late 90s. He also built and managed Mantachie Deli and Big Daddy’s Fish and Steak House. In later years, he and his boys built apartments around Mantachie. In his retirement years, he and his best buddy, Terry Collier, were seen all over Itawamba County at ball games. For the last three years, unable to continue his active life, Lyndon was constantly and lovingly cared for by his wife, Helen. He will be missed dearly by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
