George Walter Landwehr went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.
A man of many talents and a huge heart full of love. In his youth, George played professional baseball for the Washington Senators in the position of pitcher. Shortly after, he returned to Northwestern University in Chicago where he eaned his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nuclear Physics. His intellect earned him a scholorship to Yale University in New Haven, CT where he was awarded his PhD. While at Yale, he met Patricia Reynolds, “Trish”, on a blind date. George and Trish fell in love and were married on September 8, 1956.
George had always been an avid sports fan – rooting for his grandkid’s teams, college football, and of course, the Cubs.
George is survived by his wife, Trish; daughter Lisa Bowen of Huntsville and her children Trey and Jennifer; and son Paul Landwehr of Huntsville and his children Parker and Connors.
A memorial service for George will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville is assisting the family.
