FLORENCE – On Saturday, October 18, 2014, the dragon boats will return to the Tennessee River as part of the 2nd annual Shoals Dragon Boat Festival.
The event has been organized once again by Kilby Laboratory School parent volunteers as a way to help fund the last remaining laboratory school in the state.
“We are thrilled to bring the dragon boats back to the Shoals,” said event chair Emily Rhodes. “This year’s event promises to be bigger and better.”
Rhodes said now is the time for businesses, organizations, churches and groups of friends to register.
“We already have 32 boats registered for this year’s event, and our limit is 50. So people need to register as soon as possible before spaces are gone,” said Rhodes.
Interested groups should go to shoalsdragonboatfestival.com to register. The deadline for registration is Oct. 1.
