downloadATHENS– According to Athens-Limestone United Way Director Kaye Young McFarlen:

This is the 17th annual Tennessee Valley Day of Caring and we honor all those who believe in the United Way with a luncheon being hosted by Athens-Limestone ARC and the Center, which are partners with United Way. The center provides job skill training and other programs for adults in our community who are mentally and/or physically challenged.   Last year in Limestone County, we had over 450 volunteers who worked on over 50 different community projects. Our goal this year is to have all of our projects adopted and have more individuals involved in making our community a better place to live.

This year at our Kick Off for the Week of Caring we will be honoring our local educators and those instrumental in our most recent disaster recovery work. We plan to recognize those retired educators and workers who have made an impact on the lives of their students, families and communities.”

The Quad Cities Daily was there to honor those who help and volunteer with a review in photographs of this luncheon.  We present these photos  to you here:

Underneath everything we are. Underneath everything we do. We are all people. Connected. Interdependent. United. And when we reach out a hand to one, we can influence the condition of all. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.

Education, Income and Health are the Building Blocks for a Good Life

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER.

LIVE UNITEDTM
