Undercover Drug Operation Net 10 Suspected Drug Dealers

decatur police patchDECATUR-The Decatur  Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit have been conducting an undercover operation involving the  buying and selling of illegal drugs.  here is what the Police have to say about this operation:

SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:

“For the past few months, investigators with the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit have purchased illegal narcotics from local drug dealers as part of an undercover operation. During that time, quantities of marihuana, cocaine, “Spice”, and MDMA were purchased. Early this morning, OCU investigators and members of the Anti-Crime Unit began arresting these individuals. The following is a list of those arrested and informaton concerning their respective arrest.

Adrian Andrew Spruel Jr. was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance for selling marihuana. He is currently incarcerated in the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $10,000.00 bond.

Kenneth Wyontune Heath was arrested at his home and charged with Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marihuana in the Second Degree, Illegal Possession of Prescription Medication, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Heath sold “Spice” during this particular operation. At the time of his arrest, Heath was in possession of multiple packs of”Spice”, a quantity of marihuana, and a quantity of Hydrocodone. Heath was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Heath’s bond has been set at $9000.00.

Gerald Lamar Matthews was arrested and charged with four counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Matthews sold Ecstacy (MDMA) and Cocaine on multiple occassions during the investigation. Matthews will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $20,000.00 after he satisfies his sentence on unrelated misdemeanor charges with the City of Decatur.

JaMichael Orr was arrested by narcotics agents as he was walking on 6th Avenue S.W. near 2nd Street. Orr was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance after selling cocaine on two occassions. Orr was taken to the Decatur City Jail. Later, he will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail. Orr’s bond was set at $10,000.00

Defendant #5: Xavier Jarquez Robinson (D.O.B 7/31/1989), of 217 Cedar Lake Rd. S.W. Apt. #1, sold Synthetic Cannibanoids or “Spice” on two occassions and was therefore charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Robinson was arrested, booked into the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail. Robinson’s bond is $10,000.00

Defendant #6: Jaylen Tremayne Williams (D.O.B. 4/14/1995) who resides at 408 Davis Court N.W., was located near the intersection of Memorial Drive and 3rd Avenue N.W. by officers with the Anti-Crime Unit. Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance after selling crack cocaine. Williams was booked into the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $10,000.00 bond.

Defendant #7: Derix Fletcher Walker Jr. (D.O.B. 8/18/1975), address 1212 Dodd Dr. S.W. was arrested at his residence for one count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Walker is accused of selling cocaine. The bond for this charge is $5000.00. He is currently in the Decatur City Jail. He will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail at a later date.

Defendant #8: Gavin Kwame Mason (D.O.B. 9/21/1990) of 1614 Somerville Rd. S.E. Apt. 4B was arrested at his residence and charged with three counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Mason sold cocaine during the investigation of his narcotic activity. Mason was processed into the Decatur City Jail. He will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $15,000.00 bond.

Defendant #9: Vance Dewayne Harris (D.O.B. 9/14/1979) residing at 1004 Hillwood Dr. S.W. was arrested near the intersection of Beard Street and 1st Avenue. On earlier occassions, Harris sold a quantity of marihuana. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Harris was transported to the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail.

Defendant #10: Gregory Terell Goodwin (D.O.B. 6/3/1983) living at 624 Cherry Street N.W. was located by officers at 641 13th Avenue N.W. and subsequently arrested. During the investigation into Goodwin’s criminal activity, he sold a quantity of marijuana on three seperate occassions. He was charged with three counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Goodwin was transported from the scene of his arrest to the Decatur City Jail. He will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $15,000.00 bond.

Xavier Robinson, Jaylen Williams, and Gregory Goodwin are currently out on bond for other criminal charges. Investigators are going to attempt to have their bonds for their previous arrests revoked as soon as possible in an effort to keep them incarcerated.

Vance Dewayne Harris had been ordered by the court to participate in the Community Corrections program. Harris’ case manager was contacted shortly after his arrest today. A probation revocation warrant was issued almost immediately. Therefore, Harris will not be able to bond out of jail.

The charge of Distribution of a Controlled Substance is a Class B felony. The term of imprisonment upon conviction can range between two years to twenty years for each charge. The fine for a Class B felony may be as much as $30,000.00 for each charge.

Additional arrests from this specific operation are pending.”
